From 1 July 2013 all 457 applications must be lodged online. Paper applications will only be accepted if there is an issue with the Department of immigrations online computer system. If an applicant is lodging an online application and the system fails the day before the applicant becomes unlawful, only then will the Department of Immigration accept a paper application visa email in certain circumstances.
Increase to the Minimum income salary Threshold for 457 nominations
The TSMIT has been increased from $51900.00 to $53 900.00 for 457 visa applications. If the market salary rate for a specific occupation relating to a potential visa applicant is less than the new TSMIT of $53 900.00, the 457 visa application will be refused.

Skills assessments for generalist occupations
After 1 July 2013 Certain generalist occupations such as Program and Project Administrator and Specialist Managers must now undertake a formal skills assessment for their nominated occupation
