‘Two countries – one visa’ is the big bold message stamped across the Department of Immigration’s website for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. The ICC (International Cricket Council) Cricket World Cup is the highlight of the cricket world calendar with the tournament being held once every four years. 2015 will see the proud partnership of Australia and New Zealand hosting the massive sporting event.
The 2015 Cricket World Cup will see the 14 competing teams playing 49 matches across 14 different venues throughout Australia and New Zealand. This is a major event bringing visitors from around the world to the hosting countries.
Because of this significant influx of visitors, the Australian and New Zealand have come to an arrangement to make travel between the two countries during the Cricket World Cup, as seamless as possible.
With the Cricket World Cup running from the 14th February through to the 29th of March, the Australian Department of Immigration and Border protection have announced that those who are travelling between the dates of the 26th of January up until the 5th of April 2015 will only require an Australian Visa to travel over to New Zealand.
A three month visa will be granted upon arrival in New Zealand to those holding an eligible Australian visa throughout the duration of the tournament.
