With less than 4 months to go until the 2018 Commonwealth Games hits the Gold Coast, there will likely be a late scramble for Australian tourist visas. Give yourself peace-of-mind and don’t get caught out by applying with adequate time beforehand.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will take place from the 4th to 15th of April. Over 6,600 athletes and officials from around 70 Commonwealth nations and territories will descend on the Gold Coast and in event cities including Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.
The Games will not only be a celebration of sport, but also entertainment and culture. Not only will it be the largest sporting event to be held in Australia this decade, but it will also include the largest integrated sports program in the history of the Commonwealth Games. As well as this, for the first time, there will be an equal number of men’s and women’s medal events to be contested.
Alongside the Games itself, Festival 2018 will also be held, offering you the chance to take in performances from world-class musicians, stunning dancers and indigenous art amongst others. The city itself is the embodiment of its name, and the suburb of Surfer’s Paradise is named so with good reason. Iconic surf breaks coupled with the world-famous beaches give you a picturesque view and wonderful all-round experience. The Gold Coast is not just a pretty face as it really has substance. Below the surface, you will come to find a laid-back culture, yet there is always something to do.
Queensland as a whole has much more to offer than just the upcoming games. In fact you’d be hard pressed to see everything it has to offer in a short space of time. As well as its beaches, it is home to the vast Outback, and even to five World Heritage-listed sites.
If you plan on visiting, ensure your time is as stress-free as possible. Using a registered migration agent to lodge your visa application is especially beneficial if you have a complex case or you are in need of immigration assistance.
