From the 1/7/2012 the Department of Immigration has implemented changes to the skilled migration programme. Skill Select was introduced as an online service that enables skilled workers and business people interested in migrating to Australia to record their details to be identified for a skilled visa through lodging an expression of interest (EOI). Since the new changes have been implemented, to date the Department of Immigration have issued over 6100 invitations for all online Expression of interests lodged through the skill select program.
Each year a number of different occupations are published for occupational ceiling. This means that there is a limit of invitations that can be issued for a particular occupation. To date the total number of skills/occupations in demand are above 340 000. Below is list of certain occupation categories that are on the occupations ceiling list. The table also reflects how many invitations have been issued in the last 5 months and the balance which still need to be issued to all persons who are skilled in these occupations. Other occupations are also available to view: Border.gov skillselect
