How do I move to Australia?
Posted on August 27th, 2015
Moving to Australia is big decision. Located in the Southern Hemisphere, many immigrants who decide to make the move to Australia are travelling a great distance so it’s important to be well informed. There are many different aspects to consider once you have chosen Australia as your destination to start a new life.
- Choose a registered migration agent: By appointing a registered migration agent to lodge your visa application, you are given the added assurance of the best possible chance of a successful application. When selecting a migration agent it is imperative your agent is registered with the governing body the Office of Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). It is also beneficial if your agent is located within the area you are intending on moving to. For example, if you are moving to South East Queensland, Mygration has offices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast making correspondence a lot easier.
- Deciding where to live: Australia is a big country and it is worth doing your research on where you want to relocate especially if you are wanting to be close to family. Australia’s capital cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. The cities are obviously popular destinations due to their business and employment opportunities. However it is worth discussing other locations with your migration agent as the Australian government does have some incentives for people to move to more rural areas.
- Looking for work: It is important to know which industry you are wanting to work in when you move to Australia especially if you are considering applying for a Skilled working visa. The Australian government carefully reviews the different industries to ensure there is not an over-saturation of skilled workers in one particular field. There is also the option of investing in an existing business or company through the Investment Visa scheme.
