Government cracks down on Australian business’s employing illegal workers

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection posted an article on their website earlier in the month reinforcing the need for businesses in Australia to comply with the Australian Governments visa regulations.

With the number of Skilled Worker Visa applications made to Australia growing every year, Australian Businesses will be held just as accountable as the illegal worker if it is found they are employing a non-citizen who does not hold a valid visa or has restrictions on their current visa.

The excuse “I didn’t realise they weren’t allowed to work” will not be valid with a free online service VEVO (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) being accessible to employers and employees alike. The VEVO service is the best method available to determine if a job applicant is able to work for your business, even if it is unpaid work.
