Victorian Government works to support SIV

The Significant Investor Visa has been gaining a lot of attention lately with the confirmation of the new Premium Investment Visa. The Victorian Government in particular, is working hard to support the new recommendations that have been introduced to the Significant Investor Visa stream which come into effect after the 22nd of April 2015.

Victoria is wanting to secure it’s share of the Significant Investor Visa (SIV) stream which requires $5 million of investment into specific Australian industries and investments as outlined by the Department of Border Protection and Immigration. This program works on a nomination platform where Austrade works closely with the States and Territories in identifying eligible candidates for the Investor Visa.

Since the commencement of the SIV in 2012, the state the Victorian government has put forward the nominations of 1,745 international investors.  From this figure only 751 Visa’s were issued from the Commonwealth Government for the entire country.  57% of the approved SIV  applicants were from Victoria giving the Victorian Government a healthy injection into their state economy.    Due to this high rate of success, the Victorian Government is keen to put the correct infrastructure in place to process invitations and nominations once the existing SIV crosses over to the new framework.
