Today the organisers of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games introduced the official games mascot ‘Borobi’ through a televised event at Burleigh beach.
The introduction of Borobi coincides with the official two year countdown to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The event is set to inject millions into the local economy through both the lead up to to the games with building, venue upgrades and promotion and the games themselves when spectators from around the world will flock to the Gold Coast.
Local, state and federal governments are all working together to ensure the Gold Coast is not only ready on time but exceeds the worlds expectations. There have already been opportunities for Commonwealth Games volunteers to put their names down to be a part of the event in addition to the hundreds of paid workers who will help facilitate the 2018 Commonwealth Games event.
It is already an exciting time in the lead up to the Commonwealth games and with a popular tourist location such as the Gold Coast, the visitor numbers and cash injection into the local economy are set to soar.
