Our Country

Australia boasts of pristine beaches, azure waters, rich rain forests, and stunning rock formations that have attracted people from different places. While it is the sixth largest country in the world, Australia has a low population density. In February 2010, the country’s population was estimated to be 22 million. The states with the highest population density are New South Wales and Victoria, specifically Sydney and Melbourne. Perth, Western Australia, also has a small concentration of population, but enough for it to become one of the most economically active cities in the country. The ‘outback’ found in the centre of the country is sparsely populated, but is famous for its unique, exotic landscapes. Australia has 16 world heritage sites, making it one of the most visited countries worldwide. The country takes pride in its historic towns, breathtaking landscapes, bustling cities, and exotic flora and fauna.

Language

Australia has over 200 different languages and dialects, including 45 native languages from aboriginal cultures. The common languages spoken, in addition to English, are Arabic, Cantonese, Greek, Italian, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

Work Here

There is a high competition in the Australian labour market. Obtaining employment depends on your skills, qualifications, type of job/designated position, and visa eligibility. The government also has strict laws on work conditions and wages to ensure that every employee obtains fair compensation and treatment. These laws also aim to make the workplace safe, productive, and rewarding for both the employers and employees. Approval to migrate does not guarantee a job. Even if you have a valid visa, you need to secure employment before relocating. Many employment agencies can help you look for the right work that matches your credentials and skills. They can also help arrange a face-to-face interview with Australian employers.

Australia Culture

Australia’s culture is as rich as its landscapes. The country is home to different races, creating a diverse multicultural setting. This is reflected in their cuisine, lifestyle, traditions, and cultural practices. Each state also holds annual food and wine festivals featuring native delicacies. Many immigrants have participated in these festivals to add to the overall food experience. Australia values its heritage from indigenous people, which plays a big role in shaping their culture and communities. The diverse heritage creates a rich, lively environment that continues to influence cultural practices. The country is also known for the laid-back lifestyle of its people. Most Australians have a friendly, ‘no-worries mate’ attitude. People from all places happily embrace this attitude whenever they visit the Land Down Under.
