Industrial action scheduled for Australian customs officers

It has been announced and confirmed that Immigration and Border Protection staff will be participating in industrial action across major international airports around Australia for all agents who are members of the Community and Public Sector Union and employed by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Services (ACBPS).

The Union has been working closely with all airports to ensure relevant contingency plans and resources are in place to uphold the safety of travellers and cargo. ┬áThe industrial action is related to negotiations by the Union “To develop a proposed enterprise agreement that provides the best possible outcome for the combined workforce in a challenging operational and fiscal environment.” Said ACBPS Deputy CEO Border Operations, Michael Outram.

The scheduled industrial actions are as follows:

18th June 2015

Perth and Darwin

24th June 2015

Brisbane and Gold Coast

25th June 2015

Melbourne

26th June 2015

Adelaide and Cairns

Whilst it has been assured that disruptions will be kept to a minimum, it has been advised that all travellers contact their airport prior to departure to receive up-to-date developments and information.
